LO4 Evaluating content, audio levels and flow of the final production

 Evaluation

Now that I have completely finished my pre-production, production and postproduction of my podcast about cars I have realised that there was a lot of different strengths and weaknesses that I cam across when producing the podcast, I have also taken into consideration things that didn't work and ensure that things that I did wrong won't happen again as some of the weaknessess slowed down the production of the podcast and made the podcast come out later than I planned it to. The strengths that I gathered through my project will be carried through to the next podcast that I will make in the future.

Strengths

The first strength which I identified was the pre-production and planning stage of my podcast. I think that this was very successful for many different reasons. The first reason is because of the production plan which was a neat schedule on what I would be doing each week to keep everything organised and neat so I didn't fall behind and don't hit deadlines. On the other hand the production plan was successful however I went a little ahead as I could and I had time to other jobs and stay ahead of schedule and allowed me to spend longer on tasks that required more time and more detail had to be put into them. The fact that I created pre-production such as consent forms allowed me to ensure that all of the presenters and voice actors that were in the podcast signed the correct forms to give me the correct permissions to use their voices in the podcast and also meant that there was no chance of getting sued and meant I would not have to deal with any big fines and legal issues. The legal and ethical report which I created meant that I was educated on all of the legal and ethical issues that I could hit when producing the podcast. After learning about ethical issues for the legal and ethical report I learnt about the theorist who talked about stereotypes and I wanted to prove a stereotype of only men liking cars so what I did was I ensured that the voice actor that would win the completion in the podcast was a women which makes the podcast ethically right for both males and females who may be listening to the podcast. The theorist who talks about stereotypes is Tessa Perkins (1979). Overall I think that the pre-production documents was successful to use.

In my opinion I think that the locations that I used when recording the audio for the podcast was successful. The first location that I used was the recording studio at school which is soundproof which meant that no background noise was recorded with the audio. I only used this recording studio once as I used it to record the advertisement of for the podcast and I was using the voice actor Miss Payne who is a teacher at school so the recording studio was convenient to use. The other room that I used to record other audio was the office at home where I recorded the remaining scenes including the competition bit. On the downside the office isn't sound proof however this room was successful as I recorded towards the evening so was barely any background sound in the audio that could distract the audience when listening.

Another strength of the Horsepower Hour podcast was the post-production side of the podcast. I used a very good and professional and a very fast software when it comes to exporting things. The software that I used to edit the audio together was Adobe Audition which is a software which was specially designed to edit audio. This software was successful for me to use as it was easy to import my audio and also easy to clip things down using the razor tool which allowed me to remove dead sound which was irrelevant. When exporting from the Adobe Audition software it was a very quick and easy process which I exported to my desktop of my MacBook which I then uploaded onto YouTube.

The voice actors that were used to produce my podcast were all very good and worked well to produce the final podcast. Their voices were all clear and were easy to understand what they were saying meaning the audience members were able to listen to the podcast easily and understand what people are saying. The main presenters which was only two people was a good choice from me as it was a back and fourth chat and I think that both presenters got a similar amount of lines meaning one didn't have to do more than the other and they were both equal.

The equipment that I used during the production of the podcast was successful and there was no parts of the process of producing the podcast where I was at risk or did loose audio footage for the podcast. I used a iPhone to record the audio from the podcast as the iPhone has a very clear and good microphone, the iPhone was positioned on the desk in-front of the presenters which captured the audio very well. I just simply pressed record on the phone which worked well and when you listen to the podcast you will see that the audio is clear and easy to hear.

I used multiple different sound effects when editing during the post-production of the podcast which allowed me to make the podcast more lively and follow conventions of a real podcast as they usually have sound effects in them. The sound effects was successful as they fit in well with when they were played. For example I used a realistic phone ringing sound when the presenters were calling the competition winner which made it seem to the audience that an actual phone was used to call the winner when there wasn't one. I also used a swoosh like sound when the presenter welcomed the audience back after the break which helped to grab the audience's attention to ensure they are still concentrated on the podcast.

I also think that the use of the jingle that was played after certain things in the podcast helped to create a brand identity for the audience members to remember and allows new audience members to the podcast to remember us from the jingle sound. The jingle sound was played to start the show, it was then played after song had stopped, after the advertisement was over and finally at the end of the show to end the show. The jingle helped to fit the podcast into the conventions of a real podcast.

Weaknesses

During the pre-production, production and post-production of the podcast there was some weaknesses that I identified which affected the show and sometimes how the audience members would think of the podcast. The first weakness was that the use of a microphone lacked a lot when recording the audio as for the majority of the scenes I didn't use a professional microphone from a brand such as Rhode. A microphone for the scenes could have helped to make the audio quality more clear and would help to just capture the actors voices as using the iPhone was a good source of a microphone however it did pick up background sound which did affect the audio a bit. Later on in the production when I recorded the last scene for the podcast which was the competition scene I had ordered a bluetooth microphone which clipped on to actors, this was a downside as it arrived later on during the production so I could only use the microphone for the last bit I needed to record which was the competition bit.

Another weakness of my podcast was when producing the podcast I wasn't able to record all in one day and ended up having to record all the different scenes on different days which was not very good. It was not very good as this meant that I sometimes lost track on what I had recorded and what I had and also meant that I recorded some things twice which wasted everyone's time. In the future I will ensure that all of the crew that I needed to record the podcast was available all on the same day to be more organised.

I also think that I could have wrote the script a bit better during the pre-production of the podcast. This is because I thought that there was some areas when listening back to the podcast where the presenters didn't fully finish a conversation about a car and sometimes meant that the audience members were left on a bit of a cliffhanger. In the future I will make sure that the script that I make will have areas to show the audience members that they are stopping talking about a subject or topic.

Evaluation - Final production

When looking back to my final production there is a lot of successful parts to the podcast and also parts that I would change for next time to make it even better. Firstly the flow of the show worked very well and everything went to plan from the brief. In the brief it was stated that I needed to have the first 5 - 10 minutes of the show to be made, I met this as my final copy of my podcast that I have produced is around 8 minutes long which meets what was said in the brief. The first 8 minutes of the show I was able to get everything that was stated int he brief to be in the first 8 minutes of my podcast. The brief then stated that there needs to be a news bulletin so that the podcast that I made fits into the conventions of a traditional radio station. In my podcast I made the news bulletin to be about the new Lamborghini that was being released at the time, in my opinion I think that this worked very well for the genre of my podcast which is cars as the audience that will be listening to the podcast are listening to the podcast because they are interested or have a passion for cars. The News bulletin was only short so that it didn't drag on to much and sound like an advertisement and I didn't want the audience to get bored when listening to the podcast. Also I had multiple presenters in the podcast, I had two in total which was a nice amount as this is not to many people where the conversations in the podcast would get overcrowded and having two presenters meant that it was a back and forth conversation for the audience to listen to. On the other hand the brief stated to have a interview in the show however I didn't include this in the show however I did have a competition where the presenters did ask the winner questions about the car that they just won it the competition but overall I did not have a planned interview in my podcast which is something that I would have if I was to make a podcast again as this could gain a wider reach from the audience as the person we would interview may have a large following on social media meaning their followers would want to listen to the podcast with them in it. The brief wanted to have the show to have bedding music and sound effects. I had lots of different sounds in the podcast for example a swoosh sound to signal to the audience members that the conversation is changing, I also then created a jingle for the show which made the podcast fit into the conventions of a podcast. The jingle said 'Welcome to Sheffield Live, You are listening to Horsepower Hour', this was successful as it created a friendly approach to the start of the show to bring the audience members in ready to listen to the show. Music was also added to the show to ensure that the show fits into the conventions of a radio show and the songs that I used were successful as they were upbeat and lively and created a good mood for the audience members. In the brief they also wanted me to have an advertisement area in the podcast. The advertisement was a good part of my show as it fit into there conventions and genre of a car based podcast as the advertisement was about a new car that was coming out available to buy soon. I think that the voice actor that I used for the advertisement worked very well as they spoke in a posh way and formal way which is what I needed for this advertisement as the are is aimed towards a Ab audience as the cars are very expensive so a formal voice worked well.

Another positive of my final production of my Horsepower Hour podcast was the editing software that I used to edit the final copy of the podcast. I used a professional graded software called Adobe Audition which is designed just to edit audio so this was perfect to edit the audio together and I was able to change things such as the volume of each audio file and I was able to created fades to fade in and out of songs and advertisement breaks. This software was successful to use and nothing went wrong when using the software and I learnt the software first and practised before editing the final copy of the podcast. The actual production of there show was successful as everything was organised and all my presenters came to the specific locations on time and no one let me down. The equipment that I used when recoding the podcast was successful, I mainly used my iPhone to record the audio which already has a good microphone on it and captured the audio very well and clear, however later on in the production for the competition part I decided to use small clip on microphone that I bought which connected to my iPhone to record the audio, the microphone helped to make the audio sound clearer. If I was to produce a podcast again I would use microphone throughout the whole of the production so that all of the audio that I collect sounds the same and nothing it at different levels of quality.

This is my offline edit for my podcast which is called Horsepower Hour.

LO4 Editing and reviewing content

 Editing and reviewing content

Editing jingle and opening to the show

Here you can see the evidence of how I have edited together the jingle for my show with the analogue side of it as well. I started of in wave form on Adobe Audition where I cut down the bits of the audio that I didn't need to have in as these bits were normally just waiting to start talking or just stuff not happening. I then took the edited audio which says 'Welcome to Sheffield live, This is horsepower hour' and added it to multitrack where I will be editing all of the different scenes together to produce the whole podcast show
The next step I took was by adding my copyright free song to make the jingle come together and make it sound how I want it to. I purposely used a copyright free soundtrack to avoid any copyright issues.  In Audition I then clipped it down and removed any parts of the track that I didn't want in the jingle such as the parts which are not lively enough. The next step I took was by adding small dots to the volume side of the soundtrack which allowed me to add a fade into the track which then faded into full volume when the analogue is getting said in the jingle and then finally I made it so that the soundtrack would fade out as the analogue stops.

LO4 Evidence of setting up equipment and recording

Recording footage for the advert and jingles

Here you can see my voice actor Mrs Payne recording the advertisement segment for the podcast and also the jingles sound. In these photographs you can see that my voice actor is reading of the script which I produced for the podcast about cars. I recorded these sounds with the voice actor in the recording studio at school which is a good place to ensure no background sound is recorded and ruins the footage. The production of the advertisement recording worked well for my podcast because we had a sound proof recording studio meaning that barely any background sound was coming into the room affecting the footage when recording for the advertisement. The organisation of this scene for the podcast worked well as you can see in the screenshot the voice actor had a printed script which was used for the voice actor to read of to ensure they knew what they were saying for the scene.

In these screenshots above you can see how me and my other presenter have set up the scrip on the MacBook in-front of us and we used a modern day iPhone with a very good microphone on it to record us for specific scenes of the show. Due to technological convergence I decided that it was easier to read of a MacBook over reading of a piece of paper of the script because the rustling of the script when turning the page would ruin the sound quality and would mean the audience can hear the presenters as well. The use of not using a script printed of worked very well for the production when recording the audio for the main scenes in the podcast. Another successful part of the production was that we had the iPhone which I recorded sat next to the MacBook which we read of to read the script.

I have purposely took a screenshot of the iPhone camera which I then put into the video mode as I would be recording our voices and not taking photographs. You can see on this screenshot the simple red button that you press to start recording and then this goes straight to your camera roll allowing me to airdrop it over to my MacBook where I will be editing the audio for the podcast on the Adobe software called Audition. Using the iPhone to record the audio for the podcast was successful as this piece of equipment as it is very modern and has a good microphone in it which allowed me to capture crisp clear audio for the podcast.

On the screenshot above you can see how I have organised all of my different content that is going to be in the podcast in different segments including one folder for the jingle sound, one of the evidence of how I have edited content in Adobe Audition, one for the advertisement scene in the podcast, one for the competitions and finally one folder with all the main content in the podcast. Having all the audio files for the podcast in a organised folder was successful when editing the podcast in the post production stage as I can easily find the audio which I need for each scene of the podcast.

In this screenshot you can see how I have got all of my crew who are in the competition scene for the podcast. You can see how we have gathered around the desk in my house with my MacBook positioned infront of the presenters and competition winners as I used the MacBook to display the script for everyone to read of as this is more effective than using a paper script as there is less chance of creating background sound which could of been paper moving around and effecting the quality of the sound.

Here you can see how I have set up the small microphone which I used in some of the scenes which helped to gain more clearer audio and to help capture just the actors voices and not any background sound. The object on the left of the photograph is the transmitter which plugs into my iPhone which was used to capture the audio onto. The microphone was wireless and connects to the bluetooth transmitter which plugs into the phone.

LO3 Justifying codes and conventions

 Justifying codes and conventions

The codes and conventions that I am going to show what my cars podcast is similar to is the Every Day Driver podcast which can be broadcasted on YouTube. The first similar convention between my podcast and the Every Day driver podcast is that it can be streamed at any time of the day to suit anyones time who wants to listen to the Podcast. This same convention makes sense as people who are into cars may be busy working or even driving a car and want to listen to the podcast whenever they want so having the podcast live to listen to at any time and download it allows people to be more flexible about listening to the podcast. On the other hand though my podcast has two presenters on the podcast where as the Every Day Driver the podcast has only one presenter on it.

My podcast and the Every Day Driver podcast shares similar conventions as on the Every Day driver podcast they only talk about car related subjects which is what my podcast is all about as well. The Every Day Driver podcast talks about many different car related subjects such as things that makes the car have a soul, future uupcoming cars, muscle cars and also supercars. My podcast follows the same conventions as the Every Day Driver podcast because the contents that will be broadcasted on my podcast are all car related and on my podcast we will be specifically discussing superiors that already exist. From this you can see that my podcast and the Every Day Driver are the same genre of podcasts. My Horsepower Hour podcast also follows similar conventions to the Every Day Driver podcast

Another conventions that my podcast and the Every Day Driver podcast share is the talk styled podcast which creates a more involved environment for the audience to listen to. My pod cast and the Every Day Driver podcast are both relaxed style podcast for the audience to listen to and is a very chill podcast like the podcast I am making as this allows the audience to engage more in the podcast as it is more chill. My podcast follow the conventions of the Every Day Driver podcast as it is also a podcast that can be listened to whilst driving hence the name of the podcast and the podcast also allows you to feel like you are a part of the conventions and my podcast follows the Every Day Driver podcast as mine will create verisimilitude for when the audience listens to the podcast like the Every Day Drive podcast does. Another convention that my podcast shares with the Every Day Driver podcast is that they talk about the details of the cars that they talk about such as the price and things like the engine size which is the same amount of detail that my presenters talk about in my podcast.

The Horsepower Hour podcast that is the one that I am producing has similar conventions to the Every Day Driver podcast because of the fact that the presenter on the Every Day Driver and the presenters that will be on my podcast have a friendly approach to them when you are listening to which allows the audience to feel like they have a connection with the presenters of the podcasts which allows them to also enjoy listening to the podcasts more.  My Horsepower Hour podcast that I have produced follows the conventions of the BBC 5 Live Drive that I have analysed in LO1 as there is a lot of talking and intivews that are shown in the show which is a similar style of podcast I have gone to as I have a competition winner in mine who is in the show and is similar to a interview like BBC 5 Live Drive do. Another reasons my podcast follows similar conventions to the BBC 5 Live Drive is because they talk about recent topics and subjects that have been done which is what I have done in my podcast as in mine the presenters talk about recent car related subjects.

LO3 Legal and ethical

 Legal and Ethical Report

Legal

Copyright

I am going to be following the law of copyright to ensure that I do not run into any copyright issues. This is because the horsepower hour is a small company and there isn't a budget meaning we would not be able to deal with any people suing the company as this would run the company down and there would not be enough funds to fund the podcast. Copyright means that you are stealing imagery, audio, logos, names and video from people without permission when they have the permissions to own the property. I will ensure that all the audio and logos made for the Horsepower hour podcast are original and will not be similar to and the same as other brands to avoid any copyright claims.

Data Protection Act

I will be following the law of the Data Protection Act as I don't want to end up in any legal actions with people against me and the company. To ensure that I follow this law I am going to be doing many things to ensure this. The first thing is that I am going to get all the presenters and the people who's voice in the podcast to sign a permission form for me to use the audio so that I have there permission. To ensure I protect the people in my podcasts information I will ensure that no one in the podcast will talk about peoples very personal details such as where people live to ensure there data is protected. I will also shred the personal information about the people in the podcast a year after the podcast has been released so that there personal information cannot be found by anyone and there data is completely protected.

Ofcom

To ensure that I protect the audience members who are under 18 I will ensure that no content will be broadcasted that could harm and damage under 18's metal health, and content that could affect the development of under 18's mental health will not be broadcasted on the podcast. My podcast is going to be broadcasted in the day time and will be able to be listened to whenever as you will able to download it so under 18's won't need to worry about harmful content as it will be live in the day time and not past the watershed time. As I want to ensure that under 18's are protected when listening to my podcast and that nothing will harm them I am going to ensure that no offensive language is spoken when recording the podcast and no swearing is going to mentioned to be extra safe, I am also going to ensure that no sexual material is mentioned as well. No violence or dangerous content is going to be broadcasted and spoken about on the podcast to ensure that we follow the Ofcom section two harm and offence rules. As a competition is going to be in my podcast I am going to follow the Ofcom rules of ensuring the competition is conducted fairly and that the prizes that can be won on the podcast must be described properly. In section 5 Due impartiality and due accuracy it states that any news that it broadcasted must be accurate so when writing the script for my podcast I am going to ensure that all news about cars in the podcast is accurate and not incorrect information. As I have a advertisement break throughout my podcast I am going to ensure that it is clearly separated from the podcast and is to clearly show the listeners of the podcast that there is going to be a break as a part of section ten Commercial communications on radio from Ofcom.

Section 1 - protecting the under eighteens

This section on the broadcasting codes for Ofcom talks about having programs broadcasted at the correct timings throughout the day to protect children and ensure they won't see anything that they should not be seeing and things that could cause harm to them, this is content such as racist content, sexual content and violent content. My Horsepower Hour podcast will be posted mid-day so that people travelling home from work that day are able to listen to it. To ensure that I follow the Ofcom rule I will ensure that the content in the show does not mention anything violent, sexual or racist content that could cause offence to the audience and especially the younger audience. This section also talks about broadcasting programmes at the correct time of the day to ensure that it is suitable for children to access and if it isn't it needs to be broadcasted after the watershed time which is 9PM.

Section 2 - Harm and Offense

This section on the website of Ofcom talks about Harm and Offence and ensures that the members of the public are protected from harmful/ offensive material. To ensure that I follow this Ofcom rule I am going to ensure that I strictly don't have any harmful or offensive content in my podcast which could affect members of the audience. This will also be done so that I don't have to post after the watershed time. Content such as violence and dangerous behaviour has to have context behind it and there needs to be a reason for it to happen in the show. This section also talks about life changing advice including direct advice for individuals upon which they could reasonably rely on about health, finance, employment and relationships and false information should not be said about life changing advice. If any life changing advice is spoken about in my podcast which is very unlikely I will ensure that all the information that is spoken is factual and correct.

Section 3 - Crime, Disorder, hatred and abuse

This section on there Ofcom website covers material that is likely to incite crime or disorder and it reflects and talks about why this should not be broadcasted. This section reflects the rights to freedom of expression and audiences. To ensue that I follow this sectionI will make sure in the script there is no content and crime and disorder to ensure I don't breach this rule when producing my podcast. This section also talks about content which has direct amounts to call to a crimal action or disorder. This also talks about how material that promotes and encourages terrorism in forms of criminal activity should not be encouraged and spoken about.

Section 4 - Religion

In this section on the Ofcom website it talks about how the broadcasters if shows need the responsibility to have respect to all content about religions. As my program is not directed towards a specific religion or about a religion I wont need to consider this section when producing my podcast as much as no religions are going to be mentioned throughout the show.

Section 5 - Due impartiality and due accuracy

This section on the Ofcom website talks about ensuring news in whatever form is reported with accuracy and presented on the show with due impartiality. The reason for this section is to ensure that all news that is presented is correct to ensure that whoever is listening or watching the show gets the correct information and is not educated with non factual and incorrect information. To ensure that I follow this section when producing my podcast I am going to ensure that any news that is presented throughout the show is fact checked before getting spoken.

Section 6 - Elections and referendums

In this section on the Ofcom website the section 6 elections and referendums talks about and covers the special impartiality requirements and other legislation that must be applied at the time of elections and referendums. I will not be talking about elections in my podcast during the production to ensure I don't affect this rule from Ofcom.

Section 7 - Fairness

This section on the Ofcom website is to ensure that broadcasters avoid unjust or unfair treatment of individuals or organisations in programmes. The section is on privacy and how it applies to how broadcasters treat the individuals or organisations who are directly affected by programmes, rather than to what the public sees or hears as part of the audience. Overall throughout my podcast I will ensure that all genders, ages and everyone who is working on the podcast is treated fairly and equally.

Section 8 - Privacy

In this website that can be found on the Ofcom website the section is to ensure that broadcasters avoid any unwanted infringement or privacy in programmes and in connection with obtaining material included in programmes. Information which discloses the location of a persons home or family can't be revealed to the public without permission from that person, as this would breach the data protection act as well and breaking the Ofcom rule. To ensure that I follow this rule when producing my podcast I am going to ensure that any personal content that could be talked about throughout the podcast has the correct permissions to talk about before being broadcasted.

Section 9 - Commercial references on TV

This section on the Ofcom website is all about commercial references throughout programmes that are broadcasted. This ensures that broadcasters maintain editorial independence and control over programming. this ensures that there is distinction between content and advertising. This also helps to protect audiences from surreptitious advertising. This is all going to be followed during the production of my podcast to ensure there is no risk of a financial loss and also because the podcast is a low budget.

Section 10 - Commercial communications on radio

This section on the Ofcom website is made to help secure consumer protection. Programming that is subject to a commercial arrangement must be appropriately signalled to ensure that the commercial arrangement on the radio show is arranged and transparent tot he listeners of the show. To ensure that I follow the rules in this section about commercial communications on radio I am going to ensure that I clearly show a separation between spot advertisement when broadcasting the show and will have one of the presenters clearly state that a advert is about to come on.

Ethical
I am going to ensure that everything about my podcast is ethically correct and will be doing lots of things to ensure I do this. The first thing that I will do is that I will ensure that all representations of people are represented correctly and not making someone look like someone they aren't. I am also going to ensure that no offensive language such as racial language and swearing is said throughout the podcast to ensure that everyone listening to the podcast is not offended and they are able to listen to the podcast in a good way without being offended. To ensure that all presenters and peoples voices that are used in the podcast have my full permission to use there data in the podcast so release and consent forms are going to be signed by everyone involved in the podcast. To ensure I don't get involved in the legal law of Slander I will ensure that all content that is spoken throughout the podcast is all correct information and when preparing the script a fact check throughout the whole script is done to ensure all content is correct.

LO3 and LO4 Meeting minutes/production plan

Production plan -

LO3 Planning ideas

 Mind map of ideas

Mood board

My theme has been chosen over my very large interest and knowledge about cars. I specifically picked out the genre of car which is the supercar as some of my favourite cars are classed as supercars and are cars that I want to talk about in my podcast styled talk show for my project. The podcast will be comparing and talking about different types of brand of supercar.

Audience Profile

For my audience profile they need to be interested in a very specific genre. The genre of my podcast/ talk show is going to be all about cars so the target audience is going to be aimed towards a audience who is interested in cars and for people who are in special car clubs and for people who are genuinely just interested in cars and may not own anything fancy but still go to events such as car meets and festivals such as the good wood festival of speed.

The age of target audience which I am aiming to gain attention from is people aged from 17- 60. The reason of this age is because of the younger audience such as young boys who are very interested in cars and is possibly an industry they are wanting to be in in the future. Then for my older side of my target audience the people aged around 40-60 these people may be around the age to be getting to the stage of being retired and may spend there money on classic cars and super cars as they will have the disposable income to do so.

The Social status for my radio show is going to be specifically aimed towards the ABC1 social status. This is because my podcast is all about cars and supercars in specifically, meaning that most of the audience are either going to be interested in cars or have a collection of supercars. The reason it is ABC1 is because you have to have a very large disposable income to be able to invest in these cars and be involved in the expensive hobby.

Production Ideas

Interaction ideas - I have a couple of ideas for interaction for the audience to get involved with the podcast. This could be done with polls put on instagram a few days before the podcast is released. On the polls would be questions about cars and a percentage of the answer could be spoken in the podcast to tell the audience the answer. Another way that interaction could be done is having a question box on the official instagram page for the audience members to ask questions and then the presenters would answer the questions on the podcast and mention the person who has asked the question.

Advert Ideas - A strong idea of mine for the advert side of the podcast would be a posh voice would be used to create a professional advert. The advert would be advertising a luxury car brand which the older side of the audience would be able to afford and could be something for the younger to be inspired by as the younger audience doesn't have a big disposable income as some of the older audience with car collections. A expensive car brand such as Ferrari and Bentley would be the brand of choice to advertise. Other advertisement ideas such as car detailing products and car accessories could be advertised.

Bulletin/news update - My idea is going to be having news about traffic reports on the show which are relevant to the audience who may listen to the podcast in the car.

list of songs that are going to be played

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zh-ZUrc-aLI - Life is a highway - This song could work well for my podcast because it is a well known old song which came from the movie cars which most people will know of. The song will fit for both target audiences as it isn't offensive and is nicely paced.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jqqHB0FpBE.  - Estate Life - This song would probably only be suitable for the you get generation and wouldn't work with a older audience.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8Aw4kObiDA - Sliding Dirty - Again this song would probably only work with with the younger audience as it is a charva genre which is a new type of music.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orSAfJlr8WA - Got Us stuck - Driva Dave x RM. This song would work well to be played towards the middle of my podcast because it relates to a very well know car influencer in the UK. Drive Dave is a well known influencers and YouTuber with a fleet of high horsepower expensive and modified cars. This song is fast paced with a nice beat to it which is good for the younger audience. This song also features actual sound effects from real cars as well.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WEA3zHJl28 - Free from desire - This song would be a good song choice to play on the podcast as this is a song that would be played in a summery car with the roof down in the summer and generally brings good vibes to people when you listen to the song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBf2v4mLM8k - Starry Eyed - This song would also be a good song to play on the podcast as again it is a summery song that bring good vibes when listened to and is chilled which is how my podcast is.

Competition ideas

The competition that could be hosted on my podcast could include a free entry to win a track day at Silverstone where you could get to drive round the track in a car. The way you would enter the competition is by following the instagram account for the radio station, liking the post, tagging two friends and sharing the post to the story. This is creating folksonomy as we are getting the audience to do something, this is also UGC (User generated content) as we are getting the audience to put the post on the story which is them creating content. The post will be a photograph of a high-performance track car such as a Lamborghini Hurricane STO or a Porsche 992 GT3RS the photograph of the car would be at the Silverstone track. This competition idea links to my subject and theme of a supercar post cast as the competition is a car related prize. The way of entering the completion also gains more followers for the social media account and in the long run will help to gain more listeners on the podcast.

The same prize could then be given out however you would have to pay to enter as the podcast will run ads to gain money and won't be a PSB (public service broadcaster), to enter you would pay a pound per entry and message a specific number where a random winner would be called and they would have to say a specific word like Silverstone to win the prize and if they answer and don't say it they loose.

News Ideas

The only news that would be presented on the podcast would only be car related news. For example news such as new super cars being released would be talked about and what's good and bad about them and the audience would be able to gain a honest opinion by the presenters of the podcast. The new Lamborghini Temerario would be mentioned in the podcast as this is a car that has recently been released and is big news for the car community.

Please use this link to access my video with my jingle ideas.

All of the jingle ideas that I have added to my jingle idea video are all copyright free clips to ensure that I wouldn't get into any legal issues with using other peoples property without their permission and this could end in a financial loss for the podcast.

Here you can see the YouTube channel which I used to gain ideas for my jingle ideas.

Treatment

Name - I am planning to have the name of my show to be called 'Horsepower hour' which fits into the codes and conventions and genre of supercars. This is because the word Horsepower links to the cars engine which is how cars engines are measured through horsepower. The word hour is a good amount of time for a podcast to be broadcasted for.

Type of programme - The type of programme that I am wanting to record is a podcast styled show. The show is going to be a mainly talking show with a total of two presenters In it. I am going to have an advert that is going to be promoting a new super car that is coming out. The voice actor that will be in the advert is going to be a female voice speaking in a professional and posh way. There is going to be a fast paced car related song in the middle of the podcast.

Launch Date -  The launch date is going to be in summer. The podcast is purposely going to be launched in the Summer as this is when most people will be driving their supercars. This is because supercars and expensive cars are usually kept away during the winter to keep them in good condition and to protect the cars from the grit on roads and other road grime such as muck.

Key Personal - There is going to be a total of two presenters and one voice actor for the advert.
