 Editing and reviewing content

Editing jingle and opening to the show

Here you can see the evidence of how I have edited together the jingle for my show with the analogue side of it as well. I started of in wave form on Adobe Audition where I cut down the bits of the audio that I didn't need to have in as these bits were normally just waiting to start talking or just stuff not happening. I then took the edited audio which says 'Welcome to Sheffield live, This is horsepower hour' and added it to multitrack where I will be editing all of the different scenes together to produce the whole podcast show
The next step I took was by adding my copyright free song to make the jingle come together and make it sound how I want it to. I purposely used a copyright free soundtrack to avoid any copyright issues.  In Audition I then clipped it down and removed any parts of the track that I didn't want in the jingle such as the parts which are not lively enough. The next step I took was by adding small dots to the volume side of the soundtrack which allowed me to add a fade into the track which then faded into full volume when the analogue is getting said in the jingle and then finally I made it so that the soundtrack would fade out as the analogue stops.

Editing the first subject and adding the first song

In these screenshots of me showing my evidence of editing you can see how I have edited my first subject of the podcast and also added the first song to the podcast. I used the cutting tool on Adobe Audition to trim down the clip of the opening subject and removed the start and the end bits where there was no speaking happening and was just a blank clip. I edited this part of the podcast in multitrack so I can be track of where everything is. The next step I took to editing the podcast was by adding the song to the sequence. The song name is Ride With You by Joe Weller. I put this song into a free to use YouTube link to MP3 converter which I then downloaded onto my computer and added to the podcast sequence in Audition. You can see how I placed the song and the speaking part just together so that they layer together which allowed me to make it so that as the presenter says what song is about to play the song would slowly fade into the audio and work well together smoothly. Again I added dots on the volume of the song so that I could create a fade into the song and then did the same to the end of the track to allow the song to fade out.

Editing GT3RS subject

Here you can see how I am showing how I edited the audio for the GT3RS chat for the podcast. I started of by trimming the main audio clip and removed any areas where there was nothing happening for example in this case was the start and end of the clip. I used the razor tool on Adobe Audition to cut make a split in the clip and then selected the clip and removed it from the podcast. The next step that I took to editing this scene was by adding the song which was Free From Desire by Gala.

I firstly put the song link from YouTube into a free to use MP3 link to MP3 which allowed me to get a dowloaded copy of the song which I dragged onto my desktop and then dragged and dropped it onto my Audition project. The next step I took to adding the song to the project was by adding dots to the volume part of the clip which allowed me to add a fade in and out for when the analogue starts and stops in the podcast. Lastly I copied and pasted my jingle from the start of the podcast and added this to the end of the song.

Editing advertisement

These screenshots all show the evidence of how I have edited the advertisement for the podcast. I started of by importing all of the files over from a folder which I put them in. I imported the files onto my Adobe Audition project and dragged and dropped them into place on the sequence. The next step was to use the razor tool on Audition to trim the bits I don't need with the audio and then selected the bit and didn't need and deleted it, these screenshots show how I have done this for each different clip that I recorded for the advertisement bit.

Editing the song after advertisement

In this screenshot you can see how I have edited together the song and a presenter saying 'Lets get straight into a song and listen to Free From Desire by Gala', after the advertisement bit of the podcast. I started by adding the analogue part in just after the advertisement with a little gap so it isn't fast and in the audiences face and then used the razor tool and trimmed it down to get rid of areas with no analogue in it. Then I added the Free From Desire song under the analogue and it was bang under it so that the song would start fading in as the presenter is talking about what song is about to play, as the presenter is finished speaking the song is already on full volume for the audience to be able to hear it loud and clearly.

Editing the Nissan GT-R subject

Here you can see the evidence of editing and screenshots of me editing the scene for the Nissan GT-R subject. You can see in the opening of the scene how I trimmed the clip to split up the lines 'Welcome back to the break and we are back ready for the rest of the show' and 'So this is a subject that has been requested from some of the audience listening and is for us to discuss out thoughts on the Nissan GT-R'. I broke these two lines up with the razor tool so that I could add the Swoosh sound effect. I got the Swoosh like sound effect from the free sounds website where I picked the sound I liked and downloaded it onto my MacBook and dragged and dropped the sound effect onto the sequence and again used the razor tool to trim it down and have only the main bit in the sequence.

Editing news section of the podcast

Here you can see how I have edited the news area in the podcast. I started by importing the file in and dropping it into the podcast sequence. I then placed the audio on the top of the end of the song before the news chat which meant that when the presenter saying what a song that was the song is still fading out whilst he is speaking. You can then see how I have used the razor tool to take away the start and end of the audio clip where there was no analogue.

Competition advertisement

Here you can see how I firstly edited the main audio clip for the competition segment of the podcast and used the razor tool firstly on Adobe Audition to clip down the clip and remove dead audio where there is no audio or there was background chat in the background that was not needed in the podcast and would ruin the podcast.

This screenshot shows how I deleted the area that I did not need after using the razor tool to remove the dead audio I didn't need. I then dragged the remaining audio that I needed to fill the gap in the project.

The next step to editing the competition segment to the podcast was by adding the phone ringing sound effect which I got the sound of free sound.org as it was free and easy to download onto my computer and add into the project. I then imported the sound onto Adobe Audition and then dragged and dropped the file onto the project and removed some of the audio clip with the razor tool so that the ring didn't drag on and make the audience board when listening to to the podcast so there was only two rings to the sound effect and then after the sound effect the competition winner starts to talk. I purposely used this sound effect as it creates verisimilitude for the audience when listening to the podcast as this sound effect sounds very realistic and is to represent a phone ringing.
