Kerrang! actually started out as a magazine which has been published since 1981 and is a very well established brand. Kerrang! 105.2 radio is a radio station which specialises in rock music radio station which broadcasts to the West Midlands in Birmingham. It is part of the Bauer Passion portfolio. Kerrang started of as a magazine for Bauer which then went into the Bauer Media which created Passion which makes all the national radio station and the radio station Kerrang (Bauer Passion make national radio stations and also local radio station such as Sheffield Live, Bauer then went on to make things for the television which was a 50% ownership between box television which was a joint venture which branched out into making Kerrang music videos for the TV. Kerrang radio station launched on June 10th 2004. You can broadcast the station on FM in the West Midlands and DAB and Freeview and online which means it has a large audience of 1.4 million listeners. A reason why Kerrang can be international is because of technological convergence meaning you can access the radio even online. The TSA (Target sample area) of Kerrang is aimed at Birmingham and Coventry. You are able to access Kerrang through the internet, FM Radio, DAB, Freeview, app and also the radio player. National Commercial - KISS FM
The national commercial radio station KISS FM has are part of the media company Bauer Media which is a conglomerate company meaning KISS FM is part of a conglomerate and has an ownership of a conglomerate. Bauer media is a large conglomerate brand which owns the large successful business called Kerreng. Bear was made in 1985. KISS FM started its first ever show in October 7th 1985 and is still going strong. KISS FM is a profitable radio station which features adverts on the radio which is how the company produces their money and make profit. KISS FM has many different types of shows and programmes on it. For example it has the KISS Breakfast Show which talks about topics that people want to hear in the morning on the way to work. It also has a R&B show which plays R&B songs. A KISS dance show which plays dance music for people who like dance music. It also has a baseline show which plays baseline music. KISS FM plays adverts on their radio station which appeal and target towards a younger audience. For example adverts can include fast food, entertainment and som other products that the younger audience would be interested in. KISS FM can be accessed and listened to through things such as DAB and on smart speakers. You are also able to listen to the radio station through the free Rayo app which can be downloaded onto a smartphone.

Public - BBC Radio 1
BBC radio 1 was first made on the 30th September in 1967. BBC Radio 1 is owned by the PSB (Public service broadcaster) company called the BBC. The BBC radio 1 radio station is a profitable radio station as they make their money by the audience having TV licence which allows the audience to watch and listen to anything that is BBC. The types of content and subjects that BBC radio 1 talk about is documentaries, news, guest interviews, competitions, audience call ins and talking. No adverts are showed on the radio station. BBC Radio 1 can be accessed by the radio on DAB and can be used on the app BBC Sounds which can be downloaded on a blackbox device. BBC is owned by the independent company BBC which is an international company which produces different things such as TV and radio. They broadcast things such as sport, music, documentaries, news, traffic, weather and educational subjects. Every week BBC Radio 1 has around 8 million listeners every week who are aged 10 and over. Throughout the week every day BBC Radio 1 has a early breakfast show which starts at 5am and ends at 7am, this show is aimed towards the early birds of the day who wake up early for things such as work and travel, this radio station is aimed towards people who have to be up early in the morning. A very popular show that Radio 1 presents in the morning is the Radio 1 breakfast show with Greg James. This show is aimed towards an audience who want to listen to the show when getting ready for their day at work. The radio presenter Greg James fits into the genre of pop music for the target audience. This is because Greg James is a trendy younger person who the audience can see as a ideal self or partner, he has a high energy voice which helps to keep the show up beat and exiting for the audience. Greg James is a popular and well known presenter and has been on programmes such as children in need, BT Sports cricket, Most ridiculous and the One show. The average listening time for the audience who listen to BBC Radio 1 is 54 minutes for each member of the audience. The gender ratio that listen to the radio station is 54% Male and 46% female which is a close mix of the audiences gender. The BBC Radio 1 radio station is aimed towards people aged 15-34 years old. Through statistics you can see that the audiences reach is at its peak and strongest in the first half hour of the show. Most of the audience members listen to BBC Radio 1 through the radio in the car and is at 58%, the percentage of listeners through a radio at home is 37% and finally 1% who listen to the radio in a office.

Regional - Hallam FM
The radio station Hallam FM has the ownership of a conglomerate company and is owned by the company Bauer Media which is a conglomerate company and owns multiple different radio stations. Hallam Fm radio is a profitable radio station as they have adverts on their show and also have companies that sponsor the radio station and this is how they make their money. The adverts appeal to the target audience who listen to the radio station because the adverts have content such as local companies to Sheffield. On the Hallam FM radio they talk about local content to Sheffield such as the news and traffic, weather, local guests and they also do call ins from the listeners which makes the radio station more interactive. You can listen to the radio station on the radio through FM and can also also download the official Rayo App where you can listen to the radio station on and the app is free and can be downloaded on blackbox devices. Hallam Fm broadcast to the South Yorkshire and north Yorkshire area and are based in Sheffield. They are also seen as a local radio station. They have been around since 1984. Hallam was the number one commercial radio station around 15 years ago meaning they were the number one for Sheffield. There biggest personality DJ on Hallam Fm is Big John who is seen as the face of Hallam Fm and has won many awards from being on the show. Big John hosted the breakfast show which is a very popular show for the radio station. Hallam Fm is a part of Beer media who make the passion radio which is a national radio and Hallam FM fits into Bauer local radio station called Place. So this means that Hallam Fm are a part of a massive conglomerate. They have presenters such as Big John, Ed Neil, JK and Joel and Becky Hayes. Similar to Kerang most of Hallam FM radio presenters are men. Hallam FM have big competitors such as Capital FM and even BBC Radio one. Hallam Fm audience has an audience of 54% female and 46% are males which shows that there is more females listening to the radio station. The ABC 1 demographic profile of the audience Is 37% which is a lower number than Kerang. The target age demographic that the radio station is aimed towards is 25-45 years old. Hallam FM TSA is aimed at Sheffield, Doncaster and Worksop and can all be listened to FM and DAB. Hallam Fm have corroborate social responsibility meaning they can make lots and lots of money however it forces the company to give back to the community. Hallam FM do this by having the Hallam FM light switch on and cash for kids which is where locals donate money and toys and get repackaged in a warehouse in Sheffield which then get sent out to less fortunate kids that won't wake up with presents on Christmas Day. They used to do a school of the week which is where primary schools across Sheffield would do competitions which allowed the radio station to be more interactive. Hallam FM sponsor both Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday which is a great way to bring in more males to the audience. You can listen to Hallam FM on a FM radio, DAB radio, internet and Freeview. Hallam Fm is still an example of a technological convergence.

Community - BBC Sheffield
The BBC Sheffield radio station is owned by the BBC which is an PSB (Public service broadcaster) company and isn't owned by any conglomerate companies. BBC Sheffield radio is a profitable radio station as they make their money by the listeners and the audience having to have TV licences to access anything which is produced and distributed by the BBC. On the radio station they talk about local news events that have happened, local sporting events and local teams and also play music for the audience to listen to as entertainment. BBC Sheffield doesn't have any adverts on their radio station meaning the radio shows are undisturbed. The audience can listen to the radio station on DAB and can also listen to the radio station on BBC Sounds which is the BBC radio official app which is free to download and can be downloaded onto black box devices. Sheffield Live is an independent radio station and is not owned by anybody and this radio station is operated very differently.
Sheffield Live

One way that this radio station is different from commercial radio stations is that it is very localised. Music that is played on this radio station focusses on more local artists and at times they broadcast in different languages. They can be this as community radios need to be inclusive to all different people who are local. For example there was a show on at 5-6 which was completely in Mandarin. According to Ofcom community radio stations are small scale and are non profit radio stations which are operated for the good of members of the public, and in order to deliver a social gain. Social gain is meaning they want more local people listening to the radio station. This radio station is aimed towards people aged 40+ as they talk more and want to listen to people talking. Community radios must operate for the good of the public, and must provide community benefit or what is termed social gain. In order to deliver social gain as a community radio station they must provide a service for underserved groups. They must facilitate discussion and expression of opinion within the community served. They must provide training or education to people not employed by the station. Community radio station must also help to strengthen the community served, fostering a greater understanding of its character and needs. The radio station is run by Santa Basudev and she does all the running for the radio station. Sheffield leading media organisation providing training for IT skills and also providing access to media for the public and could even learn how to make your own radio station. Sheffield Live can be listened on FM and also on the internet where you can download the show and listen back to shows that you want to listen to. Sheffield Live! was awarded a licence by Ofcom to operate as a community radio station because it follows the regulations of the Broadcasting Act 1990 and the Community Radio order 2004. These two regulations state that as a community radio station you must state that a community radio station can only operate as such if its 'ethos' and output does not cross over with the main commercial channels or BBC output in the area to reach its target listenership (this is usually less than 50000). Surveys from Radar show that Sheffield Live is getting an audience reach of 11% of the Sheffield area which is their TSA (Target sample area). These numbers equate to around 32000 adults that tune in to the radio station per week. Some areas that the target sample areas are nether edge, Broomhill and Crookes. Some music output comprises of a very diverse mix of music such as Regge, raga, jungle, asian pop and traditional. The music that is played on Sheffield Live provides music for all the different cultures. The output on Sheffield Live is mainly broadcasted in English with some programming in other community languages such as Hindi/Urdu and chemise. The two laws that Sheffield Live has to follow means that the community radio service cannot gain more than 50% of running costs from one source of advertising or on-air sponsorship. This is done so that the radio station is different from other radio stations and is not just about money. Sheffield Live can also get money from donations from the public. Sheffield live is gets money from other things such as grants, donor income and also the National Lottery funding and charities. Ofcom also makes an available amount of funding annually through its community radio fund. Stations can apply for this money in the same way as other grant funding. In 2009 Sheffield live got 15000 pound which helped them to employ Sangita. Sangita runs everything for the radio station Sheffield live. You can access Sheffield live through a FM frequency and also their website where you can listen to previous shows.

The Mark McCann is owned and created by the YouTuber and successful business owner Mark McCann. His podcast is streamed through the Streaming service Spotify. The streaming app Spotify Is an independent company and is not owned by anyone else. The Rot Box podcast is a profitable podcast as the creator and host of the podcast Mark McCann gains money and profit from the streams and views that the podcast makes on podcast. The type of content and subjects that the Rot Box podcast shows is all car related content talking about different cars on the show. The show sometimes also includes special guests on the show such as Matt Armstrong and Mat Watson. The podcast is a talking podcast and they talk about current car trends and popular cars. The audience can access the Podcast through a streaming platform called Spotify which is an app which can be downloaded onto smartphones and tablets. Adverts are shown on Spotify if you haven't subscribed to Spotify premium which means you can listen to understated music without any annoying adverts interrupting you listening to the podcast. The presenter of this podcast Mark McCann its very well as a presenter for the Rot Box podcast as he is a well known person because of his YouTube channel and other crazy things he has done. Mark McCann is very well known for jumping his brand new Lamborghini Strerrato by driving it over a jump in his personal race track in his garden. He is also known for not cleaning his one of 963 Lamborghini SVJ and driving it through fields and making it as dirty as possible which turned into a viral video on the social media platform TikTok. He fits into being the perfect presenter for the podcast as he has always been into his cars and knows a lot about them meaning he is able to easily speak about cars on his podcast. The Podcast can be listened to at any time of the day meaning it is very accessible for people who have a busy day meaning they can't listen to it when it is released.


Non-Profit - ERE wash sound (Derbyshire)
ERE wash sound (Derbyshire) is an independent radio company not owned by anyone else. The radio station is purely for the audiences entertainment and the radio station is a completely non profit radio meaning they are not making any money back when producing the radio shows. On the radio show you can expect to hear and listen to local news in your area to hear what's happening, you can then also listen to sports. On the radio station you can expect no adverts when listening to the radio station because the radio station in non profit and they don't need any money from adverts. The audience can listen to the radio station through the radio on FM and cause also stream it online. The ERE wash sound radio station has many different shows throughout the day on the radio. For example their Night owls with non-stop music through the night is aimed towards people who are up in the night and want something to listen to as entertainment throughout the night, this show starts at 1AM and ends at 8AM which is when the breakfast show starts.

Comparison
Ownership
Both Hallam Fm and KISS FM share the similarities of having the same conglomerate ownership as each other. Both Hallam FM and Kiss FM are owned by Bauer Media which is a conglomerate company. BBC Sheffield and BBC radio 1 share the same ownership of being owned by a PSB (Public service broadcasting) company the BBC. The Radio station ERE wash sound and the Rot Box podcast share similar ownership as both companies are independent. For example the ERE wash sound isn't owned by anyone else and the Rot Box podcast is streamed through the independent company of Spotify. The differences between the radios Hallam Fm and ERE wash sound is that Hallam Fm is a part of a conglomerate company and ERE Wash sound is part of an independent company.
Target audience
KISS FM and BBC Radio 1 share a similar target audience as both radio stations have a younger audience who like to listen to popular and new music. Both of these audience also like pop music and enjoy having a younger presenter to listen to as they find it more relatable as they are young themselves. Both ERE wash sound, BBC Sheffield and Hallam FM share a similar target audience as the listeners to these radios are listening to the radio station to listen to local news and information to their area. The Rot Box podcast and the radio station KISS FM have very different target audience because the Rot Box podcast has a target audience who are listening to just listen to the presenters talking about cars where as the radio station KISS FM target audience I people who want to listen to music. So the similarity between these is that the Rot Box target audience isn't bothered about listening to music whereas the KISS FM target audience is wanting to listen to music.
Content
BBC Sheffield and Hallam FM radio share the similarity of having similar content. For example both radios talk about local news and weather for the audience who listen to the radios because the radio stations are local to them. BBC Radio 1 and KISS FM have similarities of playing new and popular music. The differences between the Rot Box podcast and the KISS FM radio station have different content. For example the Rot Box podcast talks about car content whereas the KISS FM content is mainly popular music.
Audiences accessing the radios
BBC Sheffield and BBC radio 1 are similar as you can access both the radio stations on the radio through DAB and can also listen to both of them through the BBC Sounds app. BBC Radio 1 and the Rot Box podcast have different ways of accessing each. For example to access the Rot Box podcast you have to use the streaming platform Spotify whereas you can access BBC Radio 1 on the BBC Sounds app. Hallam FM and KISS FM have a similar way of accessing the radio station as both of them are accessed on the radio through FM on the radio.
